Congratulations to Prof. Dr. Paolo Panza on receiving LOEWE-Exploration funding for his groundbreaking project BLOOM!

With support from the ProLOEWE program of the State of Hesse, BLOOM is developing mini-lungs – advanced lung organoids derived from patient cells, enhanced with vascular structures that mimic the alveolar environment where gas exchange takes place.

This innovation aims to enhance the way we model lung diseases, such as pulmonary fibrosis or viral infections, in the lab — and could help drive the development of personalized, precision therapies for both acute and chronic conditions.
