On October 21, we welcomed colleagues from across the region to our annual continuing medical education event, “Infektiologie im Dialog”, in Giessen.
As the only DGI-certified Centre for Infectious Diseases in Central Hesse, we aim not only to provide expert inpatient and outpatient care but also to serve as a bridge between university medicine and local healthcare practice. This dual commitment was reflected throughout the evening: combining questions of immediate clinical relevance with the latest scientific evidence.
This year’s programme covered a broad range of important topics:
- Improving antibiotic treatment through allergy de-labelling (Ulrich Matt)
- The new S3 guideline on tuberculosis prevention (Johanna Kohlhaas)
- New data and developments in syphilis (Ulla Albrecht)
- The treatment of acute HIV and HCV infections in Central Hesse (Vera Kantelhardt)
Drawing on cases and experiences from everyday clinical practice, our speakers addressed concrete treatment decisions, diagnostic challenges and topics relevant to public health—complemented by updates on current evidence and new guideline recommendations.
Our goal is to share knowledge that can be put into practice the very next morning—whether in an outpatient practice, on the ward or in a public health office: scientifically sound, critically assessed and openly discussed.
A heartfelt thank-you to all speakers, participants and supporting partners. The lively discussions and interdisciplinary exchange across healthcare sectors once again made Infektiologie im Dialog a valuable platform for learning from and with one another.
We are already looking forward to continuing the dialogue next year!
