CPI Secures Renewed Excellence Cluster Funding – Prof. Susanne Herold Continues as Spokesperson

We are pleased to announce that the Cardio-Pulmonary Institute (CPI) has successfully secured renewed funding as a Cluster of Excellence under the German Excellence Strategy.

Following its initial funding period from 2019 to 2025, the CPI will continue its pioneering research into cardio-pulmonary diseases with a new funding term starting in 2026.

The CPI is a collaborative initiative between Goethe University Frankfurt, Justus Liebig University Giessen, and the Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research in Bad Nauheim.

Prof. Susanne Herold, head of HeroldLab at JLU, will continue to serve as one of the cluster’s spokespersons alongside Prof. Stefanie Dimmeler from Goethe University Frankfurt.

This renewed recognition underscores the CPI’s significant contributions to translational research in infection biology, immunology, and pulmonary medicine.

We congratulate all CPI members and partners on this remarkable achievement and look forward to the continued advancements in the field.
