“Cell-type-specific efferocytosis determines functional plasticity of alveolar macrophages” explores how neutrophil efferocytosis reshapes mitochondrial metabolism in alveolar macrophages, promoting a pro-resolution state at the expense of bacterial clearance.
This discovery advances our understanding of immune regulation in the lung and may open new paths for therapeutic strategies in pulmonary diseases.
